Job summary

Sunbelt Fire Inc in Fairhope, AL seeks an experienced Service Technician to repair and maintain fire apparatus and related equipment. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform inspections, and collaborate with a team to keep emergency vehicles ready for the Gulf Coast.

A high school diploma is required; 3 years in heavy truck or emergency vehicle repair preferred. CDL and Cummins/ASE or welding certs are a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy truck or emergency vehicle repair preferred.
• Strong understanding of automotive systems and components.
• Knowledge of fire apparatus systems including pumps, hoses, valves, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to document work performed and parts used with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on fire apparatus and related equipment.
• Conduct diagnostic tests to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
• Repair or replace defective components such as pumps, hoses, valves, and electrical systems.
• Install and upgrade equipment including radios, sirens, and lighting systems.
• Test and calibrate fire apparatus systems to meet safety and performance standards.
• Maintain records of work performed and parts used.
• Respond to emergency calls and perform on-site repairs as required.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.

We're growing and seeking an experienced individual to join our Service Team at our service and sales branch in Fairhope, AL. We are seeking a self-starter, who is willing to learn and develop a career, while helping us serve our customers along the Gulf Coast. Our technicians work on the repair of aerial lifts and telescopic ladder systems, high output pumps and flow systems, electrical and hydraulic systems, structural weldments, drivetrain and suspension systems, annual service and inspections, welding and fabrication, and more!

Requirements

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on fire apparatus and related equipment.
• Conduct diagnostic tests and troubleshooting to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
• Repair or replace defective components, such as pumps, hoses, valves, and electrical systems.
• Install and upgrade equipment, including radios, sirens, and lighting systems.
• Test and calibrate fire apparatus systems to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
• Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, fluid changes, and filter replacements.
• Keep accurate records of work performed, parts used, and equipment serviced.
• Respond to emergency calls and perform on-site repairs and troubleshooting as required.
• Stay up to date with advancements in fire apparatus technology and industry standards.
• Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to optimize maintenance schedules and prioritize repairs.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during all repair and maintenance activities.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tools, equipment, and service vehicles.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

• Passion about the mission of Sunbelt Fire, our core values, and serving those who save and protect lives
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferably, minimum of 3 years relevant experience in heavy truck or emergency vehicle repair.
• Commercial driver's license preferred.
• Cummins, ASE, or welding certifications preferred.Strong understanding of automotive systems and components, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and braking systems.
• Knowledge of fire apparatus systems, including pumps, hoses, valves, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting work performed and parts used.
• Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION TYPE:

Full-time, Monday-Friday with opportunity for overtime.
