Job summary

Electric Pump is seeking a Service Technician to provide field service, maintenance, troubleshooting, start-up, and repair support for municipal water and wastewater facilities. You will inspect, diagnose, and maintain fluid control equipment critical to plant operations, traveling regularly to customer sites to perform preventive maintenance and emergency service calls.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30AM–5PM. Based in Eldridge, IA, you will report to the Vice President of Service Operations.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with three (3) years of mechanical experience.
  • Post-Secondary or Trade School degree in a Mechanical or Water Environment Technology program; or three to five (3 to 5) years of mechanical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install and repair fluid handling products and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of pumping equipment and perform scheduled maintenance.
  • Read and interpret pump manuals and work orders to perform required service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and test equipment.
  • Operate hand and power tools and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and communicate with customers clearly.

Frequent travel is required for the role; most often day travel.


Expected Hours of Work: Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30AM to 5PM.

In addition, we are the largest pump service organization in the upper Midwest. Electric Pump is comprised of eight locations in seven states with approximately 140 employees. Job Summary

The Service Technician is responsible for providing field service, maintenance, troubleshooting, start-up, and repair support, primarily for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role works directly with customers to inspect, diagnose, and maintain fluid control equipment critical to plant operations. The Service Technician travels regularly to customer sites to perform preventative maintenance, emergency service calls, and equipment upgrades.



Essential Functions


  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and repair fluid handling products

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of pumping equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment

  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities

  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic

  • Read and interpret pump manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service

  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on pumps and equipment

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

Work Environment

This job operates in a typical shop environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. There is also frequent use of power tools including saws and forklift. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.



Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or head. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.



Required Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent with three (3) years of mechanical experience



Preferred Education and Experience

Post-Secondary or Trade School degree in a Mechanical or Water Environment Technology program; or three to five (3 to 5) years of mechanical experience
