Service Technician

The Service Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of HSG Tech laser cutting and metalworking machinery at customer sites across the U.S., as well as at our Chicago showroom. This role reports to the Aftersales Manager of the U.S. subsidiary. The technician ensures that machines operate safely and efficiently, provides basic customer training, supports warranty and routine maintenance work, and promotes value-added services. 100% travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

The duties listed below are the specific responsibilities associated with this role. Additional related duties may be assigned as required. • Install and commission HSG fiber laser machinery at customer locations • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency service repairs • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control systems • Submit accurate and timely service reports, checklists, and timesheets • Document service actions, customer issues, and solutions in company systems • Support fellow technicians and escalate complex issues to senior engineers as needed • Follow OSHA regulations, site safety protocols, and company policies at all times • UP to 100% travel after training period • Work overtime and weekends when required based on customer needs or project deadlines

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certificate in electrical, mechanical, or industrial technology preferred • 3–5 years of hands-on experience with industrial machinery installation and repair • Experience with CNC or fiber laser equipment a strong plus • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals • Understanding of PLC systems and basic industrial automation principles • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and diagnostic tools • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required

Technical & Interpersonal Skills

• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills • Good communication skills, including ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users • Comfortable using mobile apps, digital forms, and service tools • Able to work independently, stay organized, and manage tasks under pressure • Team player willing to support others and share knowledge • Fluent in English; Spanish or Mandarin a plus

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

• Travel up to 90%, with overnight stays and occasional weekends • Must be able to lift or move items up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks in industrial environments • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed on job sites • Visual and hearing ability required to conduct equipment inspections • Exposure to loud noise, moving parts, and varying temperatures in manufacturing settings • Requires use of hands and arms for extended periods; occasional stooping or climbing • Must be able to read technical materials, analyze problems, and apply logical solutions quickly • Must communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally
