Service Tech/Sr. Service Tech

City: Carlsbad

State: NM

This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Pay for the Service Tech position is in the range of $55,200 to $69,000, and pay for the Senior Service Tech position is in the range of $62,928 to $78,660 and is dependent upon skills, experience and education of the successful candidate. This pay range is composed of a current base pay range of $48,000 to $60,000 and $54,720 to $68,400 with 15% supplemental pay, which is administered in accordance with NMGC’s Supplemental Pay Policy.

The successful candidate must live within 30 minutes of the Carlsbad office.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
This list does not reflect the job duties in their entirety.

1. Completes meter orders to include connects, disconnects, meter sets, and meter exchanges, in a timely and safe manner.
2. May investigate and respond to gas emergency orders and requests, such as blowing gas lines, in compliance with Company emergency and safety guidelines.
3. Prepares and completes in a timely/accurate manner various/required reports in the performance of assigned duties, such as damage reports, odorant test reports and/or related system reports.
4. Collaborates and consults with various individuals and groups to ensure the timely and safe completion of work assignments.
5. May be assigned to monitor warehousing of supplies and/or related materials as required or assigned.

*Senior Level Position: Entry Level Duties Plus Additional Responsibilities.

Successful Candidate Must Have:

1. A high school diploma or GED.
2. Service Tech: 0-4 years of related experience and the ability to obtain your Journeyman’s Gasfitter’s License (JGL) within 2.5 years.
3. Senior Service Tech: 4 years of direct experience and Journeyman Gas Fitter’s License (JGL).
4. A valid driver’s license and depending on position and/or geographic locations, the ability to obtain and maintain a New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Working Conditions
Field environment. Required to work overtime and/or on-call and handle rotational standby duty or emergency response as needed. May be required to work at various job sites, out of town, and/or remote locations for extended periods. Personal protective equipment including but are not limited to safety glasses, puncture resistance boots, hard hat, and respirator mask worn while performing the field functions. Frequently required to stand and/or walk to 2/3 of the time and sit up to 1/3 of the time. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work from an elevated position, such as ladders and rooftops. Will be exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and natural gas emergencies and situations.
