Job description

AKHIRE is currently recruiting for the following position:

Service Tech / Diesel Mechanic

Full-time hours

Pay $30- $40 per hour DOE

Position Summary:

The primary functions of this position are to provide service technician duties and general mechanic duties for all semi-trucks and other company heavy machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Check and report oil levels, adjust as needed.
  2. Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, check/replace batteries, lube trucks/machinery, check and repair system components.
  3. Check tire pressures for proper inflation.
  4. Inspect, refill, and change fluids as necessary.
  5. Replace malfunctioning components, parts, or other mechanical/electrical equipment.
  6. Disassemble and reassemble mechanisms of machinery.
  7. Troubleshoot and diagnose brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other truck/machinery parts.
  8. Generate work orders and complete service requests.
  9. Perform DOT inspections properly.
  10. Maintain a clean and presentable workstation.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  1. Complete vehicle/machinery inspections daily, weekly, and monthly, following all checklists and procedures.
  2. Report upcoming PMs to the mechanic supervisor.
  3. Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify work performed.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certificate in Air Brake Systems.
  • Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License.
  • Clean driving record.
  • One to two years of general diesel mechanic experience; transportation or freight experience is a plus. Most tasks are learned on the job.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience that qualify the candidate for the role.
Work Environment:
  • Work is typically performed in a fast-paced environment, mostly outdoors in all weather conditions.
