Job summary

Freedom Ag & Energy Cooperative is seeking a Service Tech to install, maintain, and repair propane and/or oil-burning systems at customer sites. You will work independently, using modern equipment and providing usage instructions while ensuring safety and high service standards.

Two or more years of experience with propane or oil heating is preferred; licenses and certifications vary by location, including CDL and hazardous materials endorsements. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years of experience installing or repairing propane or oil-based heating systems, equipment, or appliances.
• Experience with diesel and gasoline equipment is valued.
• Hazardous materials and tank endorsements or ability to obtain them as required by location.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair propane systems, equipment, and appliances safely and accurately.
• Diagnose issues, troubleshoot systems, and service diesel or gasoline tanks as needed.
• Provide usage instructions for all equipment and appliances serviced.
• Review account details, collect payments or provide invoices, and confirm next steps with customers.
• Load and deliver propane or other fuels following safety procedures at some locations.

Bring your technical skills to Freedom Ag & Energy Cooperative as a Service Tech. In this role you will be the face of our team safely performing outstanding installation, maintenance, and repair of propane and/or oil burning systems. You will work independently while having the opportunity to work with modern equipment across multiple product lines, including propane, diesel, and gasoline.

Along with each customer visit, you will provide usage instructions for all equipment and appliances service. Review account details, collect payments or provide invoices, and confirm future service with customers. Through excellent service and customers referrals, you will be part of our success in growing and maintaining FAE market share.

What You’ll Do

• Install, maintain, and repair propane systems, equipment, and appliances safely and accurately.
• Diagnose issues, troubleshoot systems, and depending on the assignment, service diesel or gasoline tanks and equipment.
• Provide usage instructions for all equipment and appliances serviced.
• Review account details, collect payments or provide invoices, and confirm next steps with customers.
• At some locations, load and deliver propane or other fuels following established safety and operating procedures.

What You’ll Bring

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.

Licensing:

Requirements vary by location and applicable state and federal regulations.

• Petroleum and/or propane certification and a Class B commercial driver’s license are required or must be obtained as permitted for the location.
• Hazardous Materials and/or Tanker Endorsement required, or the ability to obtain it.
• An HVAC, Liquid Propane Gas Fitter, or related trade license is a plus.

Experience:

• Two or more years of experience installing or repairing propane or oil-based heating systems, equipment, or appliances.
• Experience with diesel and gasoline equipment is also valued.
• Previous experience with Freedom Ag & Energy is welcome but is not required.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle as defined by FAE motor vehicle safety policies
• Handle and lift canisters into truck and/or utilize load hose, meters, gauges, and terminal controls for bulk fuel loading (top load and bottom load)
