Job summary

Metro Storage LLC is seeking a Service Technician to perform mobile maintenance and field repairs on trailers and related equipment. You will travel in a company vehicle to customer sites, roadside locations, terminals, and other sites to diagnose problems and complete repairs in the field.

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate a company service vehicle and travel to roadside and customer locations.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot mechanical problems in the field.
  • Ability to lift, bend, kneel, climb and work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a company-provided service vehicle and respond to roadside, customer-site, and terminal service calls.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, air, brake, suspension, and other equipment-related problems.
  • Perform field repairs and preventative maintenance on commercial trailers and related equipment.
  • Repair or replace lights, wiring, brakes, air lines, tires and wheel-end components, landing gear, doors, flooring, suspension components, and other trailer parts as needed.
  • Determine whether equipment can be safely repaired in the field or should be transported to a shop for additional work.
  • Maintain tools, parts, supplies, and equipment carried in the service vehicle.
  • Complete service reports and accurately document repairs, parts used, and work performed.
  • Communicate with customers, dispatch, management, and other service personnel regarding repair status and equipment needs.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT requirements while performing roadside repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe service vehicle and work area.

Job description

The Service Technician is responsible for performing mobile maintenance and repair services on company-owned and customer equipment. This position will primarily work from a company-provided service vehicle and travel to customer locations, roadside locations, terminals, and other sites to diagnose problems and complete repairs in the field.

The Service Technician will be expected to work independently, respond to service calls in a timely manner, identify mechanical issues, and make safe and effective repairs to get equipment back in service as quickly as possible. This role requires strong mechanical ability, good judgment, and a commitment to safety and customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience performing mechanical repairs, equipment maintenance, trailer repair, or a related trade.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate a company service vehicle and travel to roadside and customer locations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with commercial trailers, trucks, or transportation equipment.
  • Experience performing mobile or roadside repairs.
  • Knowledge of trailer brakes, air systems, suspension, lighting, electrical systems, doors, flooring, landing gear, and related components.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Familiarity with DOT equipment requirements and safety standards.
  • Experience documenting service work electronically.
