Job summary

Pella Windows & Doors of the Carolinas and Southwest Virginia is seeking a Service Tech in Bluffton, SC. The role focuses on repairing and installing components, documenting service calls, and delivering quality customer service.

You must be mechanically inclined, able to lift 100+ lbs, work from ladders, manage daily schedule, and drive a company vehicle. Prior windows and doors experience is preferred, with related construction knowledge.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1-2 years of related education or experience in building materials or construction preferred.
  • Knowledge of residential construction is desirable.
  • Prior Windows and Doors experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and adjust products, including glass replacement or installation of components such as window shades, blinds, muntin’s and roll screens.
  • Prepare field reports on product issues and maintain service order and billing paperwork.
  • Be aware of service-related issues and support the team in customer service and administration.
  • Prepare and clean work areas with attention to homeowner property.
  • Drive a company vehicle and ensure timely service delivery.

JOB SUMMARY

A successful Field Service Technician is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and committed to continuous improvement. They approach each service call with a positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to turn challenges into opportunities to exceed customer expectations.

In addition to technical expertise, the Service Technician must be able to work independently, manage their daily schedule effectively, maintain accurate service documentation, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of customer issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for repairs and adjustments which may include such tasks as replacing glass or installing items such as window shades, blinds, muntin’s and roll screens.
  • Also responsible for the preparation of field reports on product problems, collection of COD receipts and maintenance of service order and billing paperwork.
  • Awareness of service-related issues and the administration is a critical backbone to the support function of this position.
  • Responsible for preparation and cleanup of work area with careful attention to courtesy toward the homeowner's belongings and surroundings.
  • Additional duties as specified by management.
  • Ensuring quality customer service.
  • Responsible for driving a company vehicle.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Must be able to work from ladders and scaffolding
  • Must meet company driver qualification and insurability requirements and maintain acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Must be dependable, neat in appearance, a good listener, and personable with good communication skills for direct customer contact.
  • Must be capable of lifting/moving heavy loads (100+ lbs.) throughout the day and without additional assistance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years of related education/ experience, particularly in the area of building materials or construction
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Knowledge of residential construction
  • Prior Windows and Doors experience preferred
  • Construction experience is a plus.
  • Computer experience preferred
