Job summary

Pella Windows & Doors of the Carolinas and Southwest Virginia is seeking a Service Technician to perform field service duties in Bluffton, SC. You will diagnose and repair issues, document service activities, and interact with customers on-site.

The role requires hands-on mechanical skills, tool use, and the ability to lift heavy loads. You will work with little supervision and contribute to ongoing process improvements and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of related education/ experience in building materials or construction.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Knowledge of residential construction.
  • Prior Windows and Doors experience preferred.
  • Construction experience is a plus.
  • Computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and adjustments including replacement of glass or installation of blinds, muntin’s and roll screens.
  • Prepare field reports on product problems and maintain service order/billing paperwork.
  • Be aware of service-related issues and support function of the role.
  • Prepare and clean up work area, respecting homeowner belongings.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Ensure quality customer service.
  • Drive a company vehicle.

JOB SUMMARY

A successful Field Service Technician is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and committed to continuous improvement. They approach each service call with a positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to turn challenges into opportunities to exceed customer expectations.

In addition to technical expertise, the Service Technician must be able to work independently, manage their daily schedule effectively, maintain accurate service documentation, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of customer issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for repairs and adjustments which may include such tasks as replacing glass or installing items such as window shades, blinds, muntin’s and roll screens.
  • Also responsible for the preparation of field reports on product problems, collection of COD receipts and maintenance of service order and billing paperwork.
  • Awareness of service-related issues and the administration is a critical backbone to the support function of this position.
  • Responsible for preparation and cleanup of work area with careful attention to courtesy toward the homeowner's belongings and surroundings.
  • Additional duties as specified by management.
  • Ensuring quality customer service.
  • Responsible for driving a company vehicle.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Must be able to work from ladders and scaffolding
  • Must meet company driver qualification and insurability requirements and maintain acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Must be dependable, neat in appearance, a good listener, and personable with good communication skills for direct customer contact.
  • Must be capable of lifting/moving heavy loads (100+ lbs.) throughout the day and without additional assistance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years of related education/ experience, particularly in the area of building materials or construction
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Knowledge of residential construction
  • Prior Windows and Doors experience preferred
  • Construction experience is a plus.
  • Computer experience preferred
