Job summary

Job description

The LYNC Service Specialist functions as a resource and intervention specialist to youth enrolled in the program by connecting youth to community resources and facilitating cognitive behavioral and life skill groups. As part of the LYNC team the service specialist will maintain a cultural, gender and trauma responsive approach to all services offered.

The hours are Monday through Friday 10am to 6pm with two late night being 11am to 7pm. There is a rotating Saturday (approximately every 6-8 weeks) from 8:30am to 12pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate all cognitive-behavioral groups including the EMPLOY curriculum to youth;
  • Conduct intake, screenings, and assessments;
  • Provide strategic case management using Carey Guides, develop and monitor goals, address barriers, develop and build skill acquisition;
  • Facilitate Child and Family Team meetings as requested by probation;
  • Make referrals to Employer Recruitment or other vocational or employment opportunities as needed.
  • Coordinate with Family Advocate in identifying available community resources and assist in making meaningful connections with youth and their families.
  • Resource to Juvenile Probation Officers who may be seeking information about resources in a specific community.
  • Assist in transportation and other program needs as appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance in documentation with agency and program standards.
  • Participate in all required internal and external meetings and supervisions.
  • Complete all required internal and external trainings within required timeframes.
  • Meet and contribute to agency outcomes and performance measures.
  • Adhere to state and federal regulations, and standards of accreditation, facility licensure and funding sources.
  • May perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

Knowledge Of:

  • Community resources for families and adolescents.
  • Engagement and motivational skills.
  • General office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability To:

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Manage priorities effectively to meet deadlines and demonstrate multi-tasking skills.
  • Assimilate new information and technology.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, or Human Services OR Minimum of two (2) years' experience working with justice/system/agency involved youth.?Strong knowledge base of resources in the community.

Other:

  • Must be dependable and reliable; detailed oriented; and able to interface easily with clients, staff, and referral sources.
  • Must be able to meet routine office physical demands including climbing stairs, carrying up to 20-pound objects and possess the dexterity and vision to operate office computers and equipment.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must successfully complete the introductory probationary employment period.
