Job summary

Northside Auto Group in San Antonio, TX is seeking a full-time Service Porter to move customers’ vehicles and maintain cleanliness in the service department. The role reports to the Service Manager and requires a valid driver’s license.

The position is non-exempt and does not include supervisory responsibilities. Duties include driving vehicles, stocking, cleaning, and delivering items from the parts department as needed.

Qualifications

• Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Moves customers’ vehicles as requested and maintains service department cleanliness as directed by service management.
• Cleans driveway and sidewalks, removing debris as necessary.
• Drives vehicles to and from service lane, service stalls, and parking lot as needed.
• Makes key tags for vehicles.
• Puts protective coverings in vehicles.
• Empties trash containers throughout the service department and quick lane.
• Picks up trash in the parking lot surrounding the service department.
• Sweeps and mops service department shop and service offices.
• Spot checks bathrooms as requested for supplies and cleanliness.
• Fills up bathroom supplies and cleans restrooms as needed.
• Makes deliveries as required from parts department.
• Ensures copy machines and printers have paper.
• Fills vehicle with fuel.
• Applies dressing on tires and tire wells.
• Operates all tools and equipment in safe manner.
• Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
