Job summary

Northside Auto Group is seeking a Service Driver 2 in San Antonio, TX to transport customers and vehicles to and from the Service Department. The role requires safe driving, timely routing, and professional appearance.

You will assist customers and ensure smooth shuttle operations within the service area. The position involves various duties in the service environment, including deliveries from the parts department, maintaining communication with dispatch, and upholding cleanliness and safety

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent not required; open to applicants with minimal formal education.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.

SUMMARY

Functions as a transportation and vehicle delivery driver for the Service Department, picking up and delivering customers and/or their vehicles to and from the Service Department as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Picks up customers’ vehicles as requested, delivering vehicles to the Service Department for diagnostic or repair work.
• Drives customers to their homes or places of business.
• Picks up and drives customers to the service department as needed.
• Uses good judgment and safe driving skills.
• Keeps a timely route.
• Assists passengers getting in and out of vehicles.
• Operates radio or similar device to communicate with dealership or other vehicles to report disruption of service.
• Keeps a record or trips including names of passengers and destination or pick-up point.
• Notifies dispatcher or service manager of any servicing the shuttle vehicle may require, such as oil changes, tires, cleaning, and general maintenance.
• Maintains a professional appearance.
• Cleans driveway and sidewalks, removing debris as necessary.
• Drives vehicles to and from service lane, service stalls, and parking lot as needed.
• Makes key tags for vehicles.
• Puts protective coverings in vehicles.
• Empties trash containers throughout the service department and quick lane.
• Picks up trash in the parking lot surrounding the service department.
• Sweeps and mops service department shop and service offices.
• Spot checks bathrooms as requested for supplies and cleanliness. Fills up bathroom supplies and cleans restrooms as needed.
• Makes deliveries as required from parts department.
• Ensures copy machines and printers have paper.
• Washes vehicle exterior, cleans interior and exterior windows, and wipes down doorjambs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
