Job summary

Gary's Plumbing & Heating is hiring licensed Service Plumbing Technicians to service Bellingham and surrounding areas. This full-time role blends skilled plumbing with a sales-driven service model, offering a take-home company vehicle and performance pay potential.

You’ll diagnose and complete work on-site, handle drains, water heaters, and repairs in homes, and occasionally assist with small remodels. A valid WA plumbing license and 3+ years’ experience are required.

Qualifications

• Active Washington plumbing certificate: PL01, PL02, or PL04.
• 3+ years of plumbing experience, preferably residential service.
• Comfortable with sales; plumbing license required.

Responsibilities

• Run residential service calls across Bellingham and Whatcom County from a stocked truck.
• Diagnose, sell, and complete work on site for drains, fixtures, water heaters, leaks, and repairs.
• Occasional small remodels and light commercial work; no new construction.
• Work in crawlspaces, attics, and confined spaces.
• Follow sales process and script to explain options to homeowners.

We've built our company to keep techs in front of customers, not behind a windshield, and we're hiring licensed Service Plumbing Technicians who love helping homeowners, are comfortable with a sales-based service model, and want to write their own paycheck.

Pay

• $30 - $45/hr, depending on license and experience

• Plus a biweekly sales incentive added to every hour you work once you hit your revenue target in a two-week pay period, and it keeps climbing as you sell more

• Overtime is paid on your incentive rate too

• Cash spiffs paid opposite payday on promotions, memberships, premium installs, and after-hours on-call calls

• A base hourly safety net, so you're never on straight commission

• Six-figure earnings are very common for our service techs

Schedule & On-Call

• Full-time, Monday - Friday, day shift

• Shared on-call rotation

What You’ll Do

• Run residential plumbing service calls across Bellingham and greater Whatcom County from a stocked truck

• Diagnose, sell, and complete the work on the spot: drains, fixtures, water heaters, leaks, and repairs in older homes

• Occasional small kitchen and bath remodels and light commercial work; no new construction

• Work in crawlspaces, attics, and other confined spaces

• Follow our sales process and script to walk homeowners through their options

• Work independently, and teach a helper when one is assigned to you

What We’re Looking For

• An active Washington plumbing certificate: PL01, PL02, or PL04. Experienced plumbers who have their hours and are waiting to test are welcome to apply.

• 3+ years of plumbing experience, ideally residential service

• Comfortable with sales: plumbing is the license requirement, selling is the job requirement

• A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record

• Comfortable working in crawlspaces, attics, and confined spaces

• Reliable, independent, and with a teaching mindset

• Live in Whatcom or Skagit County to cover on-call. Relocating? We'll consider it for the right candidate.

• ServiceTitan and The New Flat Rate experience is a plus

• HVAC experience is a plus
