American Electric Power is seeking an entry-level apprentice to assist in service work for transmission and distribution facilities. You will operate line trucks, respond to trouble calls, and support construction and repair crews under supervision.
As you progress, you will work with energized and de-energized equipment, learn to install and remove meters, and perform related tasks with increasing responsibility. This is an entry-level, safety-first role based in Junction, TX.

This is an entry level apprentice position. The duties are to assist in performing service work involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities; drive and operate line trucks and associated auxiliary equipment. Assist in responding to trouble calls, investigate, correct, and clear trouble, and provide assistance to construction and repair crews, as required.

Employee may perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work in addition to that specifically outlined below.
Education requirements are listed below:High School graduate or General Equivalency Degree (GED).
Work Experience requirement listed below: No previous work experience required. Line or Service Mechanic Certification is beneficial but not required. Line work experience or line school education is preferred.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: Valid state driver license. Employee shall obtain appropriate licensing (CDL) as required by federal and/or state law prior to the end of the designated probationary period.
Compensation Data Compensation Grade: N024-V91 Compensation Range: $30.60 - $31.32
The Physical Demand Level for this job is: H – Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
