Qualifications
- 12 months training in the natural gas industry for Service Mechanic C.
- 3-5 years training in the natural gas industry for Service Mechanic B.
- 5 years progressive experience for Service Mechanic A.
Responsibilities
- Builds, sets, removes, and dismantles gas meter installations.
- Inspects customer's piping and appliances.
- Maintains and operates gas distribution equipment.

Description
Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Under general supervision, builds, sets, removes and dismantles gas service meter and regulator installations; connects and disconnects customer's gas consuming devices, turns on and turns off customer's meters; cleans, regulates and repairs customer's appliances; inspects customer's house piping and other equipment. Assists in the operation and maintenance of gas distribution equipment; may read customer's meters and collect customer's delinquent bills; collect various data and information as required; and performs other related work as directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS |
Service Mechanic C ($45.06 per hour)
- Should have a high school education or its equivalent.
- Should have a minimum of twelve (12) months training in the natural industry.
- Will have qualified and secured city or county gas installation license if one if required.
Service Mechanic B ($46.50 per hour)
- Should have high school education or its equivalent.
- Should have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years training in the natural gas or related utility industry.
- Will have qualified and secured city or county gas installation license if one is required.
Service Mechanic A ($49.69 per hour)
- Should have a high school education or its equivalent.
- Should have a minimum of five (5) years.
progressive experience in service work in the natural gas industry.
- Will have qualified and secured city or county gas installation license if one is required.

QUALIFYING TESTS |
- Satisfactory passing of examination to test mechanical aptitude and general knowledge is required before entry into this classification.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS |
- Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
- Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
- Must be able to lift or move heavy objects such as a large meter.
- Must reside within 20 miles of District

Service Mechanic B Wage - $46.50 - $46.50 per hour
