Job summary

United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental provider, seeks a Service Manager in Sacramento for the Power & HVAC Division. You’ll lead a team of Service Technicians and Equipment Associates, overseeing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of generators, air conditioners, desiccants, and electrical distribution, partnering with the Branch Manager to drive uptime and profits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of operations and shop management experience with background in repairing and maintaining the equipment stated above.
• Intermediate to advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and other systems.
• Advanced knowledge of heavy equipment, the manufacturers’ warranty process, and the work order / time spent accounting process.
• Experience on diesel, hydraulic and electrical systems that allows for independent assessment and diagnosis in most situations.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Strong motivational and leadership skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance accounting and P&L.
• Basic computer skills (Excel)

Responsibilities

• Supervise the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of equipment including generators, chillers, air conditioners, desiccant dehumidifiers and load banks.
• Motivate, coach and train technicians to exceed time & quality standards and follow repair processes.
• Supervise Service Technicians, ensuring safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
• Build strong customer relationships through high quality and timely service.
• Manage shop operating expenses and lead continuous improvement of service metrics.
• Meet regularly with Branch Managers to discuss problems and solutions.

You’ll have the opportunity to hire and motivate an amazing team of Service Technicians and Equipment Associates. You will maintain and repair a variety of specialty rental equipment and support assets assigned to the Power/HVAC fleet to ensure safe operation and readiness for rental.
