Job summary

GPI Power LLC in Houston, TX, seeks an experienced Service Manager – Power Generation to lead its nationwide service operations. Based at headquarters with regular travel, you will establish service capabilities and coordinate installation, maintenance, and warranty activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in generator sets, power generation, industrial engines, electrical power systems, or related equipment.
  • Experience managing service operations, field-service technicians, or an authorized service-partner network.
  • Strong technical knowledge of diesel and/or gas generator sets, controls, electrical systems, automatic transfer switches, and related equipment.
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and warranty administration.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and the ability to manage urgent technical and operational issues professionally.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with service-management, CRM, or ERP systems.
  • Technical degree or relevant certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Generation, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent hands-on industry experience considered.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly throughout the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop GPI Power’s service operations across the United States.
  • Establish service procedures, standards, documentation, and reporting systems.
  • Develop and manage a qualified network of regional service partners and technicians.
  • Coordinate generator installation support, start-up, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
  • Provide technical support to customers, dealers, electrical contractors, and service partners.
  • Manage customer service requests and technical escalations from initial response through resolution.
  • Coordinate warranty claims, field-service reports, technical documentation, and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with Olympian and relevant technical teams regarding product support, warranty matters, training, and complex technical issues.
  • Support the development and delivery of technical and product training for employees, dealers, and service partners.
  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and managing field-service personnel as the organization grows.
  • Develop service quotations, maintenance programs, service agreements, and other after-sales revenue opportunities.
  • Coordinate spare-parts requirements and support the development of an effective parts inventory strategy.
  • Monitor service performance through KPIs such as response time, resolution time, first-time fix rate, customer satisfaction, warranty turnaround, and service profitability.
  • Ensure all service activities comply with company procedures, applicable safety requirements, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, customer communication, work orders, and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure a consistent customer experience from order through commissioning and long-term support.
  • Represent GPI Power professionally during customer visits, site inspections, dealer meetings, and industry events.

GPI Power LLC, the U.S. subsidiary of Green Power International, is an authorized sales and service provider of Olympian generator sets, a Caterpillar brand, across the United States.

GPI Power supplies diesel and gas generator sets up to 200 kW for a wide range of standby and prime-power applications. By combining globally recognized, Caterpillar-backed product quality with responsive local sales, engineering, commissioning, and after-sales support, GPI Power is building a dependable power-generation organization for customers and channel partners throughout the United States.

Role Overview

GPI Power is seeking an experienced Service Manager – Power Generation to lead and develop its service operations across the United States.

This is a full-time position based at GPI Power’s Houston headquarters, with regular nationwide travel required. The Service Manager will be responsible for establishing and managing the company’s service capabilities, supporting customers and channel partners, coordinating commissioning and warranty activities, and developing a reliable national service-partner network.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge of generator systems with practical leadership, customer service, and organizational skills. This is an opportunity to help build GPI Power’s U.S. service organization from the ground up.

Work Location and Travel

This is an on-site position based at GPI Power’s Houston, Texas headquarters. The position has nationwide responsibility and requires regular travel to customer sites, service partners, dealers, training locations, and industry events.
