NexGen heating and air is looking for a Service Manager to lead, mentor, and grow our residential HVAC service department in La Habra. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our field team, helping our technicians deliver the high-quality, honest service our customers expect.
The Service Manager owns the full service-sales cycle—from identifying customer needs and presenting solutions to closing work, increasing average repair orders, and driving repeat business. You’ll also lead the service team, manage daily operations, and ensure every recommendation is communicated with confidence, honesty, and value.
Your main goal is to build a highly skilled, motivated, and efficient team of technicians. On a daily basis, you will lead morning meetings, review dispatch schedules, jump on coaching calls, and assist technicians with complex diagnostic questions. You will also communicate directly with customers to resolve escalations and ensure we maintain our strong local reputation.
Over time, success in this role means:
Team Retention and Growth: Reducing technician turnover by providing consistent coaching, clear career paths, and a positive working environment.
Operational Excellence: Improving key department metrics, such as reducing technician callback rates and improving first-time fix rates.
Customer Satisfaction: Maintaining high customer reviews by resolving service issues quickly and training technicians on clear, transparent customer communication.
Lead, mentor, and manage a large team of residential HVAC service technicians.
Conduct regular technical and customer service training sessions to elevate team performance.
Ride along with technicians to provide real-time field coaching on technical diagnostics, safety protocols, and customer communication.
Review daily and weekly operational metrics to identify coaching opportunities and celebrate team wins.
Partner with dispatchers to optimize daily routing, ensuring the right technician is sent to the right job.
Handle customer escalations professionally, finding fair and timely solutions to service disputes.
Ensure all team members follow safety protocols and maintain company vehicles and equipment in excellent condition.
At least 3 years of leadership experience in the residential HVAC industry (as a Service Manager, Lead Technician, or Field Supervisor).
Strong technical knowledge of residential heating, air conditioning, heat pumps, and ductless systems.
EPA Universal Certification.
Proven ability to coach, train, and motivate technical field staff.
Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills, with a focus on delivering a great customer experience.
A valid driver’s license and a clean, insurable driving record.
Familiarity with dispatching and field management software, such as ServiceTitan.
NATE Certification or other advanced industry credentials.
Experience managing a department budget or reviewing profit and loss (P&L) statements.
Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentives.
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
401(k) retirement plan with company match.
Paid time off, sick leave, and paid holidays.
Company-provided vehicle, fuel card, tablet, and phone.
Ongoing training and support to help you grow your management career.
