Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Service Manager to lead repair and maintenance of company-owned and customer equipment across the yard. You will manage work schedules, handle service calls, order parts, and mentor shop staff to ensure timely availability of equipment for rental orders.

You will evaluate equipment after repairs, document status, handle customer complaints, promote safety, and maintain service records.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Extensive experience in repair and maintenance of self-propelled platforms and lifts.
• Knowledge of work planning, scheduling and other supervisory activities.
• Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and safety requirements.
• Clear perspective on maintenance and repair issues in the industry.
• Experience in planning and management.
• Proficient with computers and reporting.
• Experience in inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Manages the repair and maintenance of company owned and customer equipment, organizing the yard (Ready to Rent, Returned, Down).
• Prepares work schedules and handles service calls to meet customer needs and ensure equipment is available as required.
• Orders parts to maintain adequate supplies.
• Provides training and assistance to staff mechanics.
• Works with equipment vendors to learn maintenance requirements of new equipment.
• Evaluates equipment after repairs, maintenance or safety checks.
• Documents equipment status before and after rental.
• Handles customer complaints regarding equipment condition or operation.
• Promotes safety awareness.
• Performs quality control checks.
• Updates, maintains and keeps organized equipment service records.
• Creates, updates, closes and bills work orders.
• Files warranty claims timely.
• Commission new equipment.
• Orders and returns parts and performs parts inventory.
• Disposal of solid and hazardous waste materials (batteries, used oil & filters, antifreeze, wash sludge).
• Performs other duties as assigned by the manager.
• Reporting: equipment due for service, fleet status, service records, open work orders, warranty claims, inventory, parts detail, financial and historical trends, service department performance, chargeback, open PO, and equipment/hrs reports.

Base Pay Range: $61,551.00 - 73,092.05 Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
