Job summary

Truckway Leasing in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a working service manager to lead a growing shop, overseeing diesel truck maintenance, scheduling, and technician guidance. Starting salary ranges from $80,000 to $90,000 with a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

This role requires hands-on supervision, safety compliance, OSHA/DOT knowledge, and coordinating repairs on gas and diesel vehicles, with a full benefits package including health, dental, vision, life, 401(k) match, and vacation.

Qualifications

• Experience as a diesel technician in a fast-paced shop.
• Ability to thrive under deadlines and maintain attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day scheduling, timecard management, ensuring adherence to company policies, providing clear communication, delegating tasks, monitoring performance, addressing concerns, training new employees, and resolving conflicts within the team, all while maintaining operational efficiency and productivity.
• Ensure all direct reports are well-trained and participate in ongoing development programs to improve their responsibilities.
• Oversee the daily workflow and schedule of shop employees.
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
• Prepare and submit/present accurate and timely reports as needed
• Work on the floor and help technicians as needed
• Plans and coordinates tasks and activities of repair shop, working on gas- and diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
• Prepares maintenance schedules for all needed repairs.
• Operates diagnostic equipment to determine repairs that need to be made.
• Performs repairs and maintenance for company vehicles and equipment.
• Maintains database of maintenance and repair records for company vehicles and equipment.
• Oversees shop inventory, orders parts, shop supplies, and equipment.
• Ensures all applicable safety standards and regulations are followed in the facility
• Knowledge of OSHA and DOT
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for customers and drivers
• Interact with customers and handle requests
• Close Work Orders
• Using basic computer skills to track and enter repair data
• Performing preventative maintenance on trucks and trailer equipmentRepairing and troubleshooting components such as engines, transmissions and chassis components
• Keep work area clean and safe
• Perform vehicle diagnostics
• Pick up and/or deliver equipment for maintenance
