Job summary

Hawthorne Cat is seeking a diligent Maintenance Associate at our Rancho Bernardo location to perform daily facility upkeep, assist with wash rack tasks, and handle deliveries as needed.

You will log maintenance activities, monitor equipment, and help ensure a clean, safe work environment while supporting multiple teams and operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, or related experience.
• MS Office knowledge is required.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Must have a valid California Class C driver's license with clean record.
• Good communication and business etiquette; ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily facility maintenance and oversee site cleanliness at Hawthorne’s Rancho Bernardo location.
• Assist with wash rack operations and deliveries/pickups as needed.
• Document maintenance actions in logs and maintain stock levels.
• Maintain equipment by inspecting before/after use and reporting damages.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Service Operations Manager, this position exists to maintain production by performing daily facility maintenance tasks and oversees site appearance and cleanliness at Hawthorne’s Rancho Bernardo location. Position is also a backup to the wash-rack attendant and will perform deliveries and pickups as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Demonstrates strict adherence to Hawthorne Safety Policies and Procedures including the correct use of personal
• Keeps facilities equipment function by cleaning, lubricating, and greasing parts with a wash rack steam cleaner and high pressure washer.
• Prolongs endurance of facilities equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules.
• Has the ability to work independently and/or with various departments as needed to complete required tasks
• Is a self-starter with strong communication and time management skills.
• Documents actions by completing maintenance logs.
• Completes deliveries and pickups by identifying destination; selecting route; driving the vehicle.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Determines condition of equipment by inspecting equipment before and after use; reporting damages and discrepancies.
• Assists in wash rack operations as needed to ensure equipment cleanliness meets contamination control requirements.
• Maintains stock inventory to determine amount available, anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
• Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Capable and flexible to perform other duties as assigned by reporting manager.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent; or six (6) months to one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have good working knowledge of MS Office programs.
• Must be forklift certified.
• Must have a valid Class C California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Must have good communication skills and proper business etiquette.
• Ability to multi-task and complete assignments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Walking: Moves about on foot often up and down stairs.

• Lifting: Raises or lowers parts weighing up to 60lbs.
• Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
• Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
