Job summary

USA Health is seeking a perioperative leader (RN) to coordinate nursing leadership across service lines and support OR operations. You will ensure first-case on-time starts, proper turnover, and seamless collaboration with clinics, scheduling, vendors, and materials management to guarantee availability of implants, grafts, and instruments.

The role requires RN licensure in Alabama or a compact state, with BCLS required and ACLS/CNOR certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across perioperative service lines and manage personnel and financial aspects.
• Support daily OR operations to ensure first-case on-time starts and efficient turnover.
• Coordinate with clinic staff, scheduling, vendors, sterilization, and materials management for availability of implants, grafts, and instruments.
• Maintain availability of implants, grafts, instruments, and equipment in OR rooms.
• Participate in meetings, in-services, and department development activities.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards and required hospital requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership across the domains of personnel management, financial management (supply chain), performance management, nursing practice management and process improvement for their service line(s)
• Support daily operations of the OR through team assignments, ensuring all rooms are setup and ready for first case on time starts, facilitating turnover and throughput and effective hand off techniques between care teams.
• Support future operations through collaboration with clinic staff, OR Scheduling Center, providers, vendor reps, sterilization, and materials management to ensure all needed people and equipment are available for future cases.
• Materials Management, primary interface to ensure appropriate supplies and implants are available for all cases
• Ensure availability of implants and grafts
• Ensure needed instruments are available for the cases
• Ensure appropriate vendors are contacted and available as needed
• Ensure that needed equipment is available in the OR rooms
• Assist with special needs, equipment and supplies
• Tracks tissue ordering, arrival and use
• Monitors expiration and consignment needs within their service line(s)
• Supports perioperative services staff in orientation, standardization, training, and case performance within the service line(s)
• Facilitating or providing in-services, introductions of new equipment and products, supplies and annual competencies
• Actively participates in departmental meetings, in-services, and committees with attendance of 80% or better
• Actively develops a sense of team, initiates and participates in team development
• Actively participates in all new hire and service line evaluations
• Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict
• Cooperates, helps others, and improves the performance of the unit
• Completes all mandatory unit, educational, and hospital requirements
• Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job
• Assumes accountability for current standards established by professions, regulatory and governmental agencies
• Determines translates and implements relevant standards and promotes department compliance
• Maintains standards of practice consistent with current research findings.
• Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the State of Alabama Required OR
• Completion of a clinical program and 2 years of experience in a perioperative setting. Required
• RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama Required or
• Certification in area of clinical focus Required
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Preferred
• CNOR - Certified Operating Room Nurse Preferred
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
