Job summary

Bluethread Services seeks a roofing assistant to help install and repair roofs on commercial structures. You will assist with material handling, ladder work, and site cleanup under supervision, prioritizing safety and adherence to procedures.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of commercial roofing experience or interest
• Experience with SP (EPDM, TPO, PVC), BUR, foam, shingle, tile and metal roofing systems preferred
• Completion of an apprenticeship program preferred
• Valid driver's license and eligibility to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation and repair of different roof types
• Align roof material and apply alternate layers of hot asphalt or tar
• Remove roofing shingles with tools and equipment
• Prep work for the new roof to be installed
• Carry bundles of shingles and other roofing materials up ladders
• Provide assistance with metal fabrication for metal roofing
• Help install residential gutters and downspouts
• Clean job area of trash and used shingles
• Ability to work on uneven surfaces
• Locate leaks and apply patches for repair
• Inspect roofing tiles, composition, and slate shingles
• Replace downspouts, outlet boxes, and gutters
• Repair broken shingles and apply sealing compounds to affected areas
• Clean roof surface before applying roofing materials
• Drivers – Operated company truck to and from job site

Summary

Position responsible for assisting in the installation or repair of roofs on commercial structures. You will also be responsible for assisting in the equipment unload process and carrying tools or roofing materials up a ladder to the work site on the roof and ensuring the worksite is clean from debris. You'll work as part of a team under the direction of a supervisor or foreman, focusing on safety and adhering to the company’s safety procedures.

This position reports directly to a Superintendent, with a dotted line to a Journeyman or Foreman per each job. It is an hourly, non‑exempt position.

Physical Requirements

Regular use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
