Role Description

The Service & Exterior Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA. This position is responsible for performing exterior and basic mechanical services on Sprinter Vans, including routine maintenance, minor repairs, accessory installation, and exterior upgrades such as racks, lighting, and trim components. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting vehicles for issues, diagnosing and troubleshooting problems, documenting work performed, and ensuring all services meet Sandy Vans’ quality standards. The technician will interact with customers and team members to clarify service needs, explain work completed, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment. Collaboration with builders, designers, and project managers is essential to support timely delivery of high-quality adventure vans.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong Maintenance & Repair skills, including basic mechanical work on vehicles and exterior components.
Candidates should possess effective Troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues and identify practical solutions for van systems and exteriors.
Candidates should possess solid Customer Service skills to communicate clearly, set expectations, and provide a positive client experience.
Candidates should possess general Maintenance skills to maintain tools, equipment, and workspace in safe, reliable condition.
Relevant experience in automotive, RV, or custom vehicle fabrication is beneficial.
Ability to read work orders, follow technical instructions, and use hand and power tools safely is required.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
