Description

Utilize knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, and analytical and experimental approaches, to identify, define, and prioritize product issues and to implement both short-term and long-term solutions. Lead the investigation of system problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, and document results. Apply and support product problem solving processes such as the 7-step problem solving approach and tools like the product development roadmap to enable high-quality repair events. Anticipate potential product or process issues in the field and deliver robust technical solutions.

Prepare the service channel for efficient service events by ensuring parts and special tools are available, service information (including diagnostics) is accurate and translated, and special care is ready for customers of new products. Lead Field Investigation and Support by gathering and communicating technical information internally and externally, using proven problem-solving techniques and electrical engineering knowledge. Create the technical information necessary for the service channel to troubleshoot and repair products efficiently, maximizing customer uptime.

Define and lead the Product Failure Reporting process to record, prioritize, and resolve product failures through cross-functional reviews, Corrective/Preventive Action Systems, failed parts transfer processes, and project management practices to improve product reliability. Structure and publish procedures for technicians to safely repair and maintain products, ensuring repairable components are accessible as part of Product Serviceability Requirements and Review. Monitor and communicate across functional boundaries to meet project resource and quality expectations, utilizing knowledge of Product Development Execution, Monitoring, and Control.

Perform detailed calculations to establish manufacturing, construction, or installation standards or specifications. Conduct field surveys or study maps, graphs, diagrams, or other data to identify and correct power system problems. Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational, safety, or environmental standards. Provide engineering data, documentation, and training to customers to support the design and integration of equipment.

Direct or coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements. Translate stakeholder requirements into virtual designs and communicate the design capabilities through cross-functional design reviews.

Responsibilities

Positions require a Master’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Systems Engineering, or related field, with 3 years of experience as a Service or Controls Engineer, Installation Specialist, or related role. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience is acceptable. Experience should include: 7-step problem solving, product development roadmap, translating service info, field investigation, technical documentation, product failure reporting, customer management, product serviceability, and cross-functional design.
