Job summary

BlackTree Technical Group, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Service Engineer to support the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced electromechanical systems and prototype hardware.

This role offers exposure to fast-paced engineering environments and opportunities to work with cross-functional teams on reliability improvements. The ideal candidate will diagnose complex electrical issues, create repair procedures, and contribute to process improvements while guiding projects from prototype

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience repairing, testing, or supporting electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting workflows.
  • Familiarity with issue tracking or service management platforms (e.g., Jira).
  • Hands-on experience building and debugging electromechanical test systems.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and power supplies.
  • Familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C communication.
  • Strong troubleshooting and prioritization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced engineering environment, supporting prototype hardware, diagnosing complex electrical issues, and collaborating closely with engineering teams to improve product reliability and serviceability. The successful candidate will also provide technical guidance, contribute to process improvements, and help drive projects from prototype through validation.

  • Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot complex electromechanical assemblies and prototype hardware.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 2+ years of experience repairing, testing, or supporting electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting workflows.
  • Familiarity with issue tracking or service management platforms (such as Jira or similar tools).
  • Hands-on experience building and debugging electromechanical test systems.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, programmable loads, and thermal measurement tools.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with Linux or UNIX command-line environments.
  • Experience with position encoders, force sensors, electric motors, or actuators.
  • Experience supporting robotic or automated electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with PCB schematic or layout software.
  • Experience performing PCB rework, soldering, cable assembly, or other precision electronics work.
