Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Service Deli Manager to direct the operation, supervise and train staff, and ensure product quality, freshness, safety and selection. You will handle inventory, merchandising, and daily paperwork while promoting customer service excellence in a fast-paced store environment.

The role requires strong leadership, effective communication, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to manage multiple tasks, including scheduling, training, and handling customer inquiries.

Qualifications

• Requires working knowledge of all job duties within the Service Deli Department including food preparation and cooking.
• Requires strong communication skills, good leadership and interpersonal skills, the proven ability to manage people and the ability to maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers.
• Requires knowledge of employment laws and workplace practices.
• Requires a good understanding of Company practices and Service Deli Department policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Directs the operation of the service deli, including supervising and training personnel.
• Orders merchandise and ensures product quality, freshness, safety, and selection.
• Champions customer service programs and resolves customer complaints to meet service goals.
• Supervises daily deli operations, conducts inspections, and maintains sanitation and safety standards.
• Maintains inventory, records, and logs, and coordinates with Store Director.
