Northside has been a staple of the Harlem community since its founding in 1946 and a pioneer at the intersection of education and behavioral health for Black and Latino children. Several of its programs were the first in Harlem and established the standard of care for many social service agencies. Northside’s founders, Doctors Kenneth, and Mamie Clark were psychologists whose breakthrough Black/White Doll Study was used as evidence in Brown v. Board of Education, which declared public school segregation unconstitutional.

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Early Intervention Service Coordinator is to help the family navigate through the Early Intervention system, particularly by assisting them in the selection of an evaluation site, in scheduling of an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meeting in a timely manner (within 45 days of referral), and in ensuring that the child/family receive all services agreed upon at IFSP.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews and discussions to determine the specific social services required by clients.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to create customized care plans for clients.
  • Ensure clients receive entitled benefits, services, and resources by liaising with external organizations.
  • Maintain detailed notes on client interactions, progress reports, and service referrals while ensuring confidentiality and legal compliance.
  • Educate the public about available social services and how to access them.

Qualification

  • An Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Organizational abilities, attention to detail, and staying up-to-date with services, policies, and regulations.
  • Strong work ethic, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
