Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a Service Coordinator to support department handoffs, conduct survival walks, and ensure smooth operations across shifts within our store environments.

The role requires effective communication, training duties, and coordination of actions affecting shrink and financial outcomes. You will mentor team members, act as SME for market programs and pilots, and participate in community programs while supporting operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Service Coordinator training curriculum.
• Ability to operate cash register system and financial services equipment.
• Strong communication, customer orientation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with shifts.
• Physical requirements include lifting and bending as needed.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with peer leadership for smooth handoff between shifts.
• Perform survival walk of the department and shift-to-shift hand-off when the team leader or area leader is not present.
• Coordinate and drive actions and activities involving monitoring and control of shrink and financial outcomes.
• Proactively elevate concerns to leadership as they arise.
• Lead training and mentoring for team members.
• Serve as SME for market programs, pilots, and development training programs.
• Assign tasks to team members within the department, in partnership with the team leader, and follow up to ensure task completion.

What You’ll be Doing:

• Communicate effectively with peer leadership for smooth handoff between shifts


• Perform survival walk of the department and shift-to-shift hand-off when the team leader or area leader is not present


• Coordinate and drive actions and activities involving the monitoring and control of shrink and financial business outcomes within areas of responsibility


• Proactively elevate concerns to leadership as they arise


• Champion participation in community programs


• Lead by example with behaviors and team member resource group (TMRG) engagement


• Serve as a certified trainer for team members in their span of care


• Perform on-the-job/hands-on team member training and mentoring


• Serve as subject matter expert for market programs, company pilots, and development/training programs


• Assign tasks to team members within the department, in partnership with the team leader, and follow up to ensure task completion

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

• Successful completion of the Service Coordinator training curriculum (includes curriculums for Cashier, Service Desk, and Courtesy Team)


• Ability to operate cash register system and all financial services equipment


• Good communication skills, friendly, customer oriented, organized, detail oriented, sense of urgency


• Has organizational and multi-tasking abilities


• This position may require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, squatting, stooping, kneeling and/or climbing The amount of weight or frequency of such activities may vary depending on a team member’s shift during the day, the day of the week, the month or season, and/or other staff on duty
