Job summary

IMA Automation USA Inc is seeking a field-based electrical automation engineer to provide remote and on-site support for automation equipment and software. The role requires troubleshooting electrical circuits, updating drawings, and releasing components for purchase while aligning with safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Electrical engineering degree or equivalent with automation experience.
  • Pharmaceutical/biotech unit ops knowledge a plus.
  • Experience with Rockwell RSLogix/Studio5000 or Siemens software.
  • Experience with Cognex and Keyence vision systems.
  • Experience with Robots: Epson, Fanuc, Staubli.
  • Willingness to travel 25-50% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot AC up to 600VAC and DC 24V circuits and PLC I/O.
  • Troubleshoot motion controllers and servo/cam systems.
  • Debug software for PLCs, HMIs, vision cameras, and SCADA.
  • Replace and configure electrical components in control systems.
  • Release spare parts for supply chain and procurement.
  • Create/update wiring schematics, BOMs, and wiring diagrams.
  • Support installations and service calls with customers.
  • Travel up to 25-50% and assist with service travel.

Job Summary

Remote and on-site support of automation equipment and software. Read electrical schematics for automated control systems, troubleshoot electrical circuits, release components for purchase and update drawings. Troubleshoot hardware and software for automated equipment as well as program development while complying with internal and customer safety requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot single and 3 phase AC power circuits (up to 600VAC), DC control circuits (typically 24VDC), PLC I/O cards and motion controllers.
  • Troubleshoot control systems for cam, servo, and air operated stations, along with test and electrical devices.
  • Problem-solve, debug software issues related to PLCs, HMIs, vision cameras, robotic systems, database & SCADA systems.
  • Replace/install and configure electrical components in automated control systems.
  • Identify and release spare parts for supply chain to purchase.
  • Research and specify appropriate purchased and preferred components for new designs.
  • Create/update electrical wiring schematics, flow diagrams, panel layouts, Bill of Materials, organize release packages.
  • Participate in installations and service calls, interfacing with customers and personnel from other IMA sites.
  • Provide technical support to external and internal customers, both remote and on-site.
  • Support software validation requirements and update documentation as needed.
  • Book service travel arrangements.
  • Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Competencies/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience with automation equipment.
  • Technical understanding of pharmaceutical / biotechnology unit operations a plus.
  • Fundamental understanding of Rockwell RS Logix/Studio5000 or Siemens development software, Schematic Capture Software, AutoCAD or Equivalent CAD environments.
  • Strong experience with Siemens PLC's.
  • Experience with Cognex and Keyence vision systems
  • Epson, Fanuc and Staubli robots.
  • Strong technical writing, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to travel 25-50% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.

Preferred Competencies/Skills

  • Strong knowledge of computer programs such as Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook and Project.
  • Strong experience with Allen Bradley, HMI's and Servo control.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD environments.
  • Knowledge of inspection and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, dB meters, etc.
  • Ability to use good judgment to incorporate IMA Automation, USA standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross functional team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan and organize work.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working around industrial machinery, electrical systems, and manufacturing environments.
  • Lifting (up to 50 lbs.) may occasionally be required.
  • Be able to stand or sit for more than 4 hours.
