Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a Production Supervisor responsible for safe manufacture of company products across diverse processes, ensuring quality, productivity and cost effectiveness. The role may supervise multiple functions and shifts through lead staff, with a focus on safety, training and process discipline.

You will plan and organize shift operations, uphold lean and TOC practices, control budgets, and develop employees.

Qualifications

  • High school + college level courses or equivalent; Bachelor's in Engineering or Business preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership and ability to drive results through others.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe manufacture of products and maintain a safe, injury-free environment.
  • Train and coach employees; enforce safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
  • Lead and develop staff; provide performance feedback and career development.
  • Ensure adherence to process control procedures, instructions, and quality standards.
  • Plan, organize and supervise shift operations to meet schedules and costs.
  • Assist with budget input and monitor monthly budgets; meet financial targets.
  • Interview and hire staff; drive staffing plans and morale across the team.
  • Apply Lean, TOC and NEI principles to improve department performance.

Production Supervisor positions are responsible for a lesser span of control and/or require a lesser level of demonstrated expertise in manufacturing and process skills than an Area Manager

Mission

Responsible for the safe manufacture of company products which may represent a broad diversity of manufacturing processes. Responsible for satisfying all quality and productivity requirements in a most cost effective manner. Production Supervisor positions are responsible for a lesser span of control and/or require a lesser level of demonstrated expertise in manufacturing and process skills than an Area Manager

Span of Control

May be responsible for an average to less than average number of production employees, numbers of and/or value of manufacturing machines, particularly in comparison to the span of control of an Area Manager.

Manufacturing Expertise

Demonstrates a fundamental knowledge of and ability to apply PCC budgeting process and financial management tools. Demonstrates a fundamental knowledge of and ability to understand and apply the PCC planning process. Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of and ability to apply the PCC manufacturing processes in area of responsibility. Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of and ability to apply “lean”, “TOC”, “interference management” and “NEI” processes in areas of responsibility.

Principal Accountabilities

Responsible for the safe manufacture of products, safety in the areas of responsibility, and maintaining a safe, injury free work environment. Ensures compliance with legal requirements and company safety policies.

Ensures that all employees work in a safe manner and that employees are properly trained in all safety procedures. Ensures that good housekeeping practices are consistently followed.

Ensures effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Resolves employee issues through problem resolution.

Responsible for adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions.

Plans, organizes and supervises shift operations in accordance with production schedules and requirements in the most cost effective manner. Responsible for process control in area of responsibility. Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and assures compliance by assigned employees.

Ensures that thru-put and target earned hours are attained and budget criteria is met or exceeded.

Works with employees to effectively resolve work place issues, gives necessary feedback on employee performance. Conducts formal performance appraisals and recommends/approves pay increases, transfers and promotions in accordance with company policy and procedures and state and federal laws.

Interviews and hires (recommends for hire) employees.

Develops, trains, and involves employees in maintaining and improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation and morale.

Maintains adequate staffing to meet required production schedules.

Assists with and provides input for annual budget for areas of responsibility. Thereafter, adheres to budget plans. Meets monthly budgets.

Qualifications

High school plus college level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing, accounting, mathematics and statistics or equivalent experience required. Bachelors in Engineering or Business preferred.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations and priorities.

Requires that the incumbent be organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills or the ability to develop the skills required.

Computer literate, particularly in spreadsheet; financial; inventory and production planning and tracking applications.

Demonstrated ability to develop, execute and deliver results in conformance with action plans.

COMPLETION OF AND ABILITY TO APPLY INFORMATION FROM HAZARDOUS WASTE TRAINING REQUIRED DUE TO POTENTIAL COORDINATION OF HAZARDOUS WASTE HANDLING IN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY.
