Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Service Center Operator C (SCOC) on 2nd shift in the Atlanta area. You will stage, pack, and pick material for shipments, using proper equipment and SAP for order confirmation. The role involves operating a forklift and ensuring accurate paperwork to support shipping and receiving.

The position includes enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding, highlighting hands-on training, safety, and skill development in a metals industry setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role or apprenticeship onboarding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Complete paperwork and SAP work orders for shipping/receiving
• Maintain maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• Other duties as assigned

As a Service Center Operator C (SCOC) at Ryerson, you will be responsible for day‑to‑day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

2nd Shift 2:30pm-10:30pm

Roles and Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer‑specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit‑down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills‑based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills
• Minimum 1yearof similar job experience preferred
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training
