Denton County Transportation Authority is hiring a SERVICE ATTENDANT!!! Now starting at $18.24 per hour.
JOB LOCATION: Bus Operations Facility is located at 1101 Teasley Lane, Denton, TX
PURPOSE OF JOB
The Service Attendant performs routine service on all Agency vehicles and buses. Responsible for the general maintenance and cleanliness of DCTA’s maintenance facilities and assets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are standard for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
· Removes graffiti and adhesive stickers from the interior/ exterior of vehicles and shelters.
· Responds to fluid spill cleanup in the field, on the street, or at other locations.
· Disposes/recycles solid and/or hazardous waste.
· Refueling of revenue and nonrevenue vehicles.
· Inspection of all fluid levels.
· Replacement of worn items such as wiper blades, light bulbs and lenses.
· May assist with the changing of tires.
· May assist with the changing of engine oil and transmission fluid.
· Moving vehicles and buses around maintenance facilities.
· Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the DCTA maintenance facilities, assets, and locations.
· Dust, wipes, washes, scrubs, sanitizes, vacuums, and mop DCTA maintenance facilities, vehicles, and other areas as assigned.
· Participates in safety programs such as committees or emergency contingency, uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required, and notifies supervisor of repair needs, safety concerns, or hazardous situations.
· Maintains a neat and orderly work area; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.
· Keeps maintenance records; monitors supplies; and restocks supplies as needed.
· Prioritizes emergency tasks and responds to emergency calls when requested.
· Operates company-assigned vehicles ensuring safety and company procedures are followed.
· Reports areas needing repairs to the direct supervisors or appropriate staff.
· Report any items found on vehicles to the appropriate staff.
· Completes fuels logs and milage usage on buses when fueling.
· Additional duties shall include janitorial services as required, running errands, maintaining proper records, pulling vaults from revenue vehicles and replacing with empty vaults, storing filled vaults in coin counting room, posting and removing rider alerts and car cards on revenue vehicles, maintaining records of vault/farebox condition and vehicle assignment, and other related tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION (where applicable, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
Must be 21 years of age or older. High School Diploma or GED. One year of janitorial or custodial experience. Possess a valid, non-restricted Texas Class B CDL License with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements preferred, Class C required. Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
Applicants must have at least two years of driving history and possess a valid, unrestricted license.
Established driving history must be clear of the following:
1) No moving violations on driving record within the last thirty- six (36) months.
2) No accidents where the applicant has contributed to cause within the 3 years prior to the application date.
3) Have appeared in court as required.
4) No violations related to drugs/alcohol.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
· Ability to obtain/maintain a minimum Class B valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement for public passenger transport valid within the State of Texas.
· Knowledge of basic janitorial techniques.
· Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
· Knowledge of and compliance with all applicable safety standards and requirements.
· Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
· Ability to read, follow, and safely handle supplies per manufacturer instructions.
· Ability to learn new methods and ways of doing work.
· Problem-solving and analytical skills required to solve common problems.
· Ability to communicate effectively in both the written and spoken form; uses appropriate grammar, accurate spelling and punctuation when communicating through written form; communicates effectively with internal and external customers.
· Ability to interact professionally with internal and external clients.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Physical activity includes, but is not limited to: on a continuous basis, sit on bus for long periods of time; prolonged periods of driving; write or use keyboard to communicate through written means; repeated use of sight to inspect work and equipment; repetitive hand motions, such as steering; hearing and speech to communicate both on the phone and in person. Involves travel in automobile and walking. Frequently requires use of hands, fingers, repetitive hand/finger motions, and sitting, as well as bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, standing walking, reaching with hands and arms, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. Repeated use of hearing and speech to communicate on telephone, radios, and in person.
