Job Details

Are you service-oriented and interested in working for an organization passionate about love and excellence?

We are seeking a Service Assistant I to assemble and serve accurate patient and cafeteria meals, and to fulfill sanitation needs of the department including ware washing, pot sink, and utility functions.

This is a casual position working 8 hours a week. Shifts will be 4:00pm-7:30pm weeknights and weekends.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates knowledge of operation and care of basic food service equipment including dish machine, pot sink, and sanitation stations.
  • Efficiently operates dish machine and all necessary ware washing equipment. Reads dish machine temperatures and records them according to procedures.
  • Operates pot washing area using proper cleaning and sanitizing solutions. Stores pots and utensils appropriately. Tests pH of pot sink sanitizer.
  • Maintains appropriate sanitation practices; uses chemicals correctly, follows pot washing and mopping procedures, maintains a clean work area, and disposes of trash properly.
  • Complies with safety requirements, State Board of Health, and other regulatory standards.
  • Follows infection prevention procedures, including wearing gloves and protective clothing as required.
  • Interacts with patients, families, co-workers, management, physicians, and other staff in a compassionate manner, demonstrating empathy, sensitivity, patience, and respect.
  • Performs work safely, reports unsafe activities or hazards to supervisor.
Scope, Contact, and Supervision

Frequent contact with FNS staff; occasional contact with CC staff, patients, and guests. No supervision of others.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or enrolled in high school.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. Ability to read, write, follow instructions, lift up to 30 pounds, and walk as needed.

Physical Demands

Must pass physical exam, be drug-free, and able to hear, see, speak, and ambulate. Capable of standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical activities.

Working Conditions

Exposure to infectious materials, dangerous equipment, extreme temperatures, and chemicals.
