Job description

Senior Software Test Engineer (G10) (Req 1443776)

Meet the Team

The team is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the Cisco NFVIS (Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure Software) product, built upon Linux KVM technologies and deployed in marquee customer deployments.

NFVIS enables customers to manage the lifecycle of VMs (Virtual Machines) and Containers (both Cisco and third-party). It is supported on Cisco custom hardware (ENCS, c8200-ucpe, c8300-ucpe) and Cisco General Compute hardware (UCS-C series), provisioned through Cisco SD-WAN orchestrator or the built-in NFVIS-GUI.

The team owns CI/CD processes with automation for features and manages release collateral, including security aspects. It operates in a high-touch model for key customer accounts to facilitate feature adoption. The team collaborates closely with other Cisco ecosystem teams such as SD-WAN, Thousand Eyes, Security & Trust, Cisco HW, Compute, and Collaboration.

Your Impact

As a Senior Software Test Engineer, you will work closely during the design and development phases, building automation to validate and release software in a dynamic agile environment. You will own your work—whether developing new features or fixing bugs—and deliver scalable, elegant solutions while growing your skills. You will collaborate with a multi-functional team of makers and doers committed to solving real-world problems and meeting customer needs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with Linux, understanding of Kernel, virtualization technologies such as QEMU, libvirt, KVM
  • Expertise in networking concepts and protocols (DHCP, Bridges, VLAN, etc.)
  • Expertise working with APIs, JSON, or REST/RESTCONF
  • Proficiency in automation programming with Python for network virtualization and containerization (Docker/Podman)
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field and 10+ years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to validate new features
  • Leadership experience in guiding other test engineers and collaborating on system architecture and test planning
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Git)
  • Ability to create, execute, and document test plans, cases, and results for system and integration testing
  • Ability to estimate schedules and deliverables
  • Self-driven with a background in build processes, scripting, and Python automation
