Job description

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Work Location: In person

Shifts:

  • 1st Shift: Monday to Thursday 6 am-4:30 pm
  • 2nd Shift: Monday to Thursday 4:30 pm-3 am
  • Weekend shift: Fri-Sun, 6 am-6 pm

Summary: The Server Repair Tech will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and replacement of parts on servers sent to SMS for diagnosis and repair.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, test, and diagnose servers.
  • Replace parts as needed.
  • Conduct and analyze server stress tests.
  • Document all symptoms, test results, and parts replaced in the shop floor tool.
  • Collaborate with motherboard repair, motherboard testing, QC, and inspection personnel.
  • Provide backup for QC, inspection, and motherboard testing.
  • Maintain parts consumption.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Maintain and nurture a positive work environment.
  • Work and collaborate with other teams such as warehouse, shipping, receiving, etc.
  • Follow the process for system and parts management.

Minimum Requirements:

Other Personal Skills:

  • Know the basics of server architecture.
  • Know how to assemble components to make the server functional.
  • Run and understand testing diagnostics.
  • Understand basic networking architecture.
  • Understand basic error codes.
  • Able to troubleshoot common server errors and issues.
  • Motivated to solve problems.
  • Interested in constantly learning about servers and networking.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent technical experience; certifications in Server support and architecture are desired.
  • Experience: Troubleshooting and diagnosing servers; experience with computer tools such as email, spreadsheets, and call tracking or shop repair tools.
  • Experience with replacing parts on servers.
  • Experience with server configuration.
  • Good written and verbal skills—needs to document errors and repairs.
  • Industry/Environment: Prefer to have worked in a PC or server type of environment.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Employees must be able to lift objects that weigh up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to tolerate moderate to high noise level in a warehouse environment.
  • Must be able to work in hot or cold weather conditions.
