Job summary

Lenovo is seeking a System Performance Validation (SPV) Engineer in Morrisville, NC, to conduct hands-on performance testing and analysis of Lenovo server platforms. You will benchmark, characterize, and optimize system performance across CPU, memory, storage, I/O, GPU, and other components, collaborating with architects and OS teams throughout the product cycle.

The role focuses on setting up test environments, identifying bottlenecks, and documenting best practices.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Good understanding of server architecture fundamentals.
• Hands-on testing, debugging, and performance analysis required.
• Familiarity with Linux and basic system administration.
• Basic understanding of CPU, memory, PCIe, storage, networking, and GPU technologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on setup, configuration, and testing of Lenovo server platforms.
• Run performance benchmarks and workloads and analyze test results.
• Support performance characterization and optimization across CPU, memory, storage, I/O, GPU, and other system components.
• Investigate performance issues and assist with root-cause analysis and debugging.
• Understand system architecture and evaluate how hardware topology, firmware settings, OS configuration, and system design affect overall performance.
• Work with system architecture, UEFI, hardware, thermal, power, and OS teams to validate performance-related designs and configurations.
• Support performance testing of new server technologies and platforms.
• Develop and maintain performance test procedures, technical documentation, and best practices.
• Work with senior engineers and architects on customer performance issues and platform optimization.
