SERVER

As a server at Smith Tower Observatory and Bar, you'll serve as more than just a conduit for food and drinks. You'll be a curator of experiences, blending your deep understanding of Smith Tower and its history with an unwavering commitment to exemplary guest service. From recommending the perfect dish to sharing insights about the observatory's celestial wonders, you'll elevate every visit into a memorable journey for our guests, ensuring they leave not just satisfied, but enriched by their time at Seattle’s Tallest Historic Landmark.

What you’ll do:

THE BRASS TACKS

  • Provides exemplary guest services in the observatory bar and restaurants with a magnetic personality to ensure a positive culinary and cocktail experience for all guests
  • Ensures eloquent and attractive food and beverage presentation
  • Maintain daily knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including menu changes and sold-out items
  • Ability to use a point-of-sale system to ring up all orders
  • Maintains cleanliness in and around the dining area
  • Provides a positive and team centric work environment
  • Adheres to established safety and quality standards daily through city, county, and state health guidelines and standards
  • Administers state liquor laws and ensuring all laws, regulations, and standards are being adhered to
  • Be part of the catering/banquet team during private, mix-in, and marketing/promotional events
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership

THE NITTY GRITTY

  • Two (2)+ years of serving experience preferred
  • Able to perform essential functions on a computerized Point of Sale System
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to upsell
  • Required valid WA State Food Handler’s Permit and MAST Permit and understanding all applicable liquor laws and regulations
  • Ability to stand up and down for more than three (3) hours at a time
  • The ability to communicate independently, clearly, and effectively
  • Must maintain dependable work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules including any required overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift (25+) Pounds
  • Basic math skills required
