I. Basic Purpose Of Position

Responsible for assisting in the overall smooth running of dining and coffee house services, including delivery, set-up, and clean-up of functions across the SV at EN Campus. Will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner to residents, family members, potential residents, and guests efficiently and timely. Delivers room trays to apartments as needed. Assists in supervising and training servers/bus persons.

II. Customer/Clients Served By Position

Residents, resident family and guests, Department managers, supervisors, support staff, outside vendors, and regulators.

III. Education Requirements

High School Diploma preferred or in progress. One year experience in a leadership role is acceptable.

IV. Experience Requirements

At least one year experience as a waitperson. Must be neat, clean, and wear required uniforms.

V. Special Skills, Licenses, Certifications, and Training

Team player and leader. Food Handlers certificate. Able to pass pre-employment TB exam and physical, fingerprint clearance as per licensing.

Job Duties
  • Understand responsibilities from opening to closing duties.
  • Maintain standards of food service for all residents.
  • Supervise dining room and coffee house staff per standard operating procedures.
  • Understand emergency policies and procedures.
  • Assist in implementing dietary laws, including Jewish dietary laws.
  • Train, coach, and guide food service employees.
  • Ensure professional service and cleanliness standards.
  • Supervise room and tray service, delivery, and pickup.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies, china, glassware, flatware, and linen.
  • Answer department telephones.
  • Monitor and serve dietary special functions.
  • Possess and maintain a food handler’s card.
  • Greet and assist residents courteously.
  • Remember resident preferences.
  • Check service readiness and communicate with staff.
  • Use computer for menus, seating charts, and assignments.
  • Review daily function sheets and ensure waitstaff complete side work.

  • Punctual attendance; flexibility for weekends, evenings, holidays.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Complete work timely.
  • Work well with team members.
Policy and Regulations
  • Familiarize with mission, policies, and Jewish traditions.
  • Follow safety regulations and wear appropriate safety gear.
  • Use HRIS for timekeeping, including meal periods and overtime.
  • Wear proper uniform.
  • Attend HIPAA and mandated reporter training, and report violations.
  • Adhere to compliance and ethical standards, report concerns.
Non-essential Job Functions
  • Provide breaks in Mel’s Place.
  • Serve meals when staff short.
  • Complete diet aide side work.
  • Create flyers for events.

Residents’ nutritional needs are met, documentation is accurate, and surveys are successful.

Equipment Required

Vacuum, food & beverage equipment, coffee machines, china, glassware, linens, ice machine, soda dispenser, carts, microwave, refrigerator, computer, etc.

Physical Requirements

Must stand and walk for hours, use hands for reaching and holding, climb, kneel, bend, lift up to 25 lbs, and have good vision and hearing for safety.
