TEKsystems is seeking a Data Center Installation Technician in Frederick, MD to help build a brand-new data center. You will install fiber and copper cabling, patch equipment, and rack servers as part of a collaborative, onsite team.

You’ll work in a fast-paced environment supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure and gain hands-on experience with fiber optics, networking, and data center operations. This contract role anticipates weekend work and travel between Adamstown and Frederick

Qualifications

• Experience with data center installations or IT infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with Cat5/Cat6 and fiber optic cabling; knowledge of cable management is preferred.
• Experience with rack-and-stack or hardware installations.
• Basic understanding of data center operations or IT support environments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Install and route fiber optic and copper cabling throughout the data center.

What You'll Do

As a Data Center Installation Technician, you will play a critical role in building and deploying infrastructure that powers the cloud. Your responsibilities will include:

• Installing and routing fiber optic and copper cabling throughout the data center

• Patching and connecting cables between servers, switches, and network equipment

• Labeling, organizing, and dressing cabling to industry standards

• Racking and stacking servers, network devices, and supporting hardware

• Supporting day-to-day installation and deployment activities within a new facility

• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment

• Working alongside experienced data center professionals to bring systems online

What We're Looking For

• Experience with data center installations, structured cabling, or IT infrastructure projects

• Familiarity with Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cabling, and cable management best practices

• Experience with rack-and-stack activities or hardware installations

• Basic understanding of data center operations or IT support environments

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds

• Comfortable climbing ladders and working at varying heights

• Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and walkways safely

• Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and performing physical work throughout the shift

Schedule & Travel

• Must be available to work weekends as needed

• Must be able to travel between data center locations in Adamstown, MD and Frederick, MD

• Flexible schedule to support project requirements

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Frederick, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
