Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Charleston, WV, seeks a Server to courteously serve resident and guest meals and assist with dining room clean-up after service.

You will assist residents with menu orders, provide beverage service, and uphold cleanliness and safety standards, with a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must wear a clean uniform and maintain good personal hygiene.
• Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.
• Must perform simple, repetitive tasks.
• Must learn quickly and apply learned principles.
• Must communicate effectively and work under close supervision.
• Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects.
• Must stand and walk for up to three hours at a time.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds regularly and carry heavy objects up to 20 feet.
• Must be organized and work well with others.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents when placing orders from the menu.
• Provide beverage service, including water, iced tea, juices, milk, coffee, and tea.
• Refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls before and after each meal.
• Report any broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor.
• Demonstrate an understanding of sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
• Maintain a basic understanding of food preparation, including salads, desserts, and other menu items.
• Demonstrate knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room.
• Attend all required in-service training and staff meetings.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.
• Remain attentive to the special needs of residents, including mobility limitations, memory impairment, and other individual care needs.
• Assist with tray service as needed.
• Follow confidentiality policies and procedures regarding the release of resident information.
• Interact with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors in a polite, respectful, and considerate manner.
