Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Charleston, SC is seeking a server to courteously serve resident and guest meals, assist with menu orders, provide beverages, and help reset the dining room after meals.

You will refill condiments, report equipment issues, support tray service, and maintain cleanliness while adhering to confidentiality and safety standards. Flexible shifts include evenings, weekends and holidays; Harmony offers strong benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.
• Must lift 50 lbs regularly and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
• Able to stand and walk for up to three hours at a time.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must maintain clean uniform and personal hygiene.
• Ability to learn quickly and follow basic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Serve resident and guest meals courteously and assist with tray service.
• Provide beverage service and refill condiment items as needed.
• Maintain dining room and kitchen cleanliness (sweep, mop, vacuum).
• Assist with menu guidance and accuracy of orders.
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information.
• Participate in required in-services and staff meetings.

Job Description

• The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service.
• Assists residents when placing orders from the menu
• Provide beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk and coffee/tea)
• Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls prior to and after each meal
• Report any broken equipment or tableware to supervisor
• Understands sit-down service and proper serving techniques
• Has a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.)
• Knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining room
• Attends required in-services and staff meetings
• Completes all other duties assigned
• Must be attentive to special needs of residents including: mobility deficits, memory impairment, etc.)
• Assists with tray service
• Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information
• Interacts in a polite considerate manner to residents, guests, co-workers and supervisors

Requirements

• Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene
• Must be able to read and follow simple instructions
• Must possess ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks
• Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision
• Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects
• Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
• Must be organized and willing to work well with other team members
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
