Job description

Job Summary

Mercury Systems is offering an experienced Hardware Engineer with a strong focus on rugged server integration. In this role, you will integrate and validate server components including risers, power supplies, cables, add‑in cards, and high‑speed interfaces, ensuring full system‑level electrical integrity. You will also design targeted supporting PCBs (such as riser cards, power distribution boards, or fan controllers) needed to optimize system performance and configurability. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on system bring‑up, debugging, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical integration of rugged server systems, incorporating commercial and custom boards.
  • Own system‑level power architecture, including review, qualification, and integration of commercial power supplies.
  • Integrate risers, cabling, add‑in cards, and high‑speed interfaces (PCIe Gen5, USB 3.x, SATA, Ethernet).
  • Perform targeted PCB design including riser cards, power distribution boards, and fan/control modules.
  • Address signal‑integrity issues and recommend cables, layouts, or red‑river‑based solutions when needed.
  • Support thermal management by developing or integrating fan‑control solutions.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, test, software, and systems teams to ensure full system compliance.
  • Lead debug and root‑cause analysis across power, thermal, and high‑speed digital domains.
  • Develop system electrical specifications, integration plans, and test procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field; MS preferred.
  • Ideally 4+ years of hardware development experience from concept through production.
  • Strong experience with PC/server architectures and system‑level hardware integration.
  • Hands‑on experience with power supplies and high‑current system design.
  • Experience with high‑speed digital interfaces (PCIe, USB 3.x, SATA, Ethernet).
  • Ability to design schematics using Cadence DEHDL/Concept or similar tools.
  • Understanding of signal‑integrity principles and best practices.
  • Strong cross‑disciplinary communication skills and ability to lead technical efforts.
  • An active DoD secret clearance or the ability to obtain one. US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience adapting commercial power supplies to military or ruggedized applications.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD704F, 1275, 1399, or MIL-STD461G.
  • Experience with riser card, signal conditioning, or red‑river designs.
  • Knowledge of thermal management and fan‑control system design.
  • Experience with Intel CPU architecture and BIOS‑level integration.
  • Hands‑on experience with microcontrollers for sequencing or control tasks.
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro for layout or SI simulation.
Salary & Benefits
  • $75,000.00 - $150,000.00 annual salary for in‑office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees.
  • $84,000.00 - $168,000.00 annual salary for in‑office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA.
  • $88,500.00 - $177,000.00 annual salary for in‑office or hybrid employees in NJ.
