The Orchards Health Center is seeking a Server/Nutrition Services Diet Aide to provide restaurant-style service and exemplary care in community dining rooms. This role emphasizes empathy for residents and quality customer interactions.

We offer both full-time and part-time schedules with evening and weekend shifts, plus a competitive wage and benefits. Training is provided to support growth in this essential service area.

Qualifications

• Strong desire to work with and have empathy for the elderly.
• Excellent customer service and listening skills.
• Be reliable, organized and a team player.
• Food Handler card (can be obtained after hire).
• Six months of experience as a diet aide preferred but not required; on-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete pre- and post-meal checklists for nursing trayline and dining services.
• Prepare meal trays for skilled nursing trayline and understand therapeutic diets menus.
• Take resident orders graciously and courteously.
• Clear dishes from tables before, during, and after meals.
• Assist with preparing portions of nourishments, salads, and desserts.
• Set up and break down dining tables in health center areas.
• Transport hot/cold foods and non-food items between kitchen and dining areas.
• Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary stations and equipment.

The Server/Nutrition Services Diet Aide is responsible for table service within the community dining rooms. This position will require all standards of restaurant dining service are met and exemplary customer service will be provided to all residents.

Principle Duties

• Responsible for completing pre and post-meal time checklists for skilled nursing trayline and assisted living dining services.
• Prepares meal trays for skilled nursing trayline and achieves competency in understanding of therapeutic diets menus.
• Takes assisted living residents orders graciously and courteously, listens with patience.
• Clears dished from dining room tables, before, during, and after meal service.
• Assists with the preparation and portioning of nourishments, snacks, salads and desserts.
• Sets up tables in the health center dining rooms and breaks down same after meal.
• Transports hot and cold foods to and from the kitchen. Transports all required non-food items to and from the kitchen.
• Maintains station equipment and work area in safe and sanitary conditions per manufacturer guidelines.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
• Follows proper food handling techniques and coordinates the use of time, material and equipment to avoid waste and unnecessary expense.
• Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Six Month's experience as a diet aide, diet clerk in a skilled nursing facility preferred but not required. Will train on-the-job.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
• Ability to interpret standardized recipes, instructions, specifications and standards.
• Ability to plan and organize work, set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders and interpret specifications and standards.
