Description

Now Hiring: Barista/Server at Little Ruby’s – East Village

Pay: $16.50/hour (before tip credit – $11/hour after tip credit) + tips

Schedule: 4–5 shifts per week (mix of server and barista shifts depending on the week)

Location: East Village, NYC

Little Ruby’s is a bright, bustling neighborhood café known for its warm Australian hospitality, laid-back energy, and all-day brunch menu. We’re currently looking for a polished, dual-skilled Server/Barista to join our East Village team. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who can deliver exceptional guest service on the floor and behind the espresso machine.

Role Overview

As a Server/Barista, you’ll be scheduled for both front-of-house service shifts and barista shifts, depending on the needs of the week. Whether you’re welcoming guests and guiding them through the menu or pulling perfect shots and pouring clean latte art, your goal is to create a warm and memorable experience for every guest.

Key Responsibilities

As a Server:

• Greet guests, take and deliver orders with accuracy and attention to detail
• Present menus, explain specials, and make thoughtful recommendations
• Handle guest requests and anticipate needs throughout service
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of your section and dining area
• Process payments in accordance with company policies
• Collaborate with teammates to ensure smooth and seamless service

As a Barista

• Prepare all espresso-based drinks with consistency, speed, and quality
• Execute clean, consistent latte art (required; will be demonstrated during interview)
• Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized bar station at all times
• Engage with guests at the bar in a warm, welcoming manner
• Follow company recipes and coffee standards with care and pride

What We’re Looking For

• 1+ year of barista experience in a fast-paced, high-volume café
• Latte art proficiency is a must — you’ll be asked to demonstrate this in your interview
• Experience as a server in a high-volume restaurant, café, or similar setting
• Polished, professional, and upbeat demeanor
• Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work efficiently under pressure
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Valid Food Handler’s and Alcohol Awareness Certificates (or willingness to obtain)
• Comfortable standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs
• Flexible availability including mornings, weekends, and holidays
