Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Server Assistant is to provide prompt, courteous service to restaurant patrons and ensure guests are satisfied with their dining experience by assisting Food Servers and Bartenders as necessary.
Essential Job Functions
- Demonstrate pride, attention to detail, and knowledge of all aspects of the restaurant (menu items, food prep, service standards, bar concept, etc.).
- Supply the dining room and tables with clean china, silver, glassware, utensils, condiments, and paper supplies.
- Ensure all tables are set before and after shifts.
- Remove dirty dishes, soiled linen, glassware, and silverware; assist servers in carrying dining items.
- Maintain tables during service, clearing dishes and emptying glasses as needed.
- Reset tables and perform related duties as requested by management or waitstaff.
- Keep all areas clean and free of debris.
- Polish glassware and service items as necessary.
- Assist food servers with serving bottled water and bread.
- Monitor tables closely, attending to guest needs.
- Clear and scrape dishes in side stations after clearing a table.
- Serve non-alcoholic beverages and refill as needed.
- Change tablecloths and reset tables promptly after guests leave.
- Serve coffee, hot tea, and other non-alcoholic beverages.
- Refresh flatware after each course or upon guest request.
- Assist in serving food timely and accurately.
- Carry one plate per hand without tray service.
- Complete side work, stock service stations.
- Maintain a professional demeanor during service.
- Ensure station cleanliness and compliance with health standards.
- Prepare for shifts and closeout duties.
- Move tables to accommodate reservations and prepare sections.
- Provide prompt, courteous food and beverage service within property restaurants.
- Adjust service speed based on timing and guest needs.
- Greet customers immediately with a smile.
- Serve meals and beverages, checking back regularly.
- Monitor and attend to guest needs throughout their stay.
- Prepare silverware neatly and quickly at tables.
- May serve as a food runner as needed.
- Maintain appropriate grooming and uniform standards.
- Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
Performance Requirements
- Knowledge of upscale food and beverage service standards.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with guests and staff.
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Ability to promote casino events and campaigns.
- Teamwork and attendance adherence.
Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Repetitive reaching, stooping, and lifting (50 lbs or more).
- Visual acuity for guest service.
- Work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Flexible schedule including holidays and weekends.
- Handle intoxicated guests professionally.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of bussing or food runner experience preferred.
- Attention to detail in a gourmet setting.
- Must be 21 years old.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Food Handlers certification required.
- Ability to demonstrate integrity and pass background checks.
- Professional appearance and interpersonal skills.
