Job Summary

The Server Assistant position at Nobu provides prompt, courteous service to restaurant patrons and ensures guests are satisfied with their dining experience by assisting Food Servers.

How You Will Create the Extraordinary

• Assist Food Servers in service of food and beverage offerings.
• Maintain tables throughout service, clearing dishes between courses and empty glassware as necessary.
• Make sure that all tables are set completely both before and after shift.
• Responsible for all food and beverage items received, visually inspecting all items for discrepancies and ensuring good conditions.
• Ensure the receipt and request of all items is timely and accurate.
• Monitor and replenish all stock items in assigned area in a neat, accurate and timely fashion.
• Keep all areas clean and free of debris.
• Polish glassware as necessary.
• Clear and scrape all dishes in side stations after clearing a table.
• Make or replenish coffee, tea, water, or soft beverages as needed.
• Partner with both FOH/BOH teams to work as a team to ensure coordinated workflow.
• Stock side stations with linen and proper glassware.
• Service and explain menu items to guests.
• Change tablecloth and reset tables quickly after guests leave the restaurant.
• Provide service of beverage offerings.
• Maintain professional demeanor throughout service, assisting servers and captains as necessary.
• Move tables throughout dining room to accommodate reservations.
• Carry multiple dishes (up to 6 at one time) in one hand without tray service.
• Stock assigned area with product and supplies throughout the shift; maintain proper product pars.
• Acknowledge and greet all guests.
• Complete special assignments for management as requested.

What You Will Need

Success at Nobu Restaurant is defined by traits like a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, meticulous attention to detail, and a demonstrated history of anticipatory service. Previous experience of at least one year in a high-volume, fine dining establishment is preferred.

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Food & Beverage related position for a high-volume nightclub or high-volume restaurant preferred.

Ability to read and write English sufficiently to perform job.

• Remaining calm in a hectic, fast-paced atmosphere.
• Demonstrate a high level of organization, attention-to-detail and sense of urgency.
• Display a positive and outwardly friendly attitude toward guests.
• Must be observant and quick to respond to various situations while also multitasking and handling stressful situations.

Must be neat and clean in appearance and physically fit to perform the duties required.

Ability to move throughout the outlet (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods of time.

Ability to make repeating movements of the arms, hands, and wrists.

Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.

Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to work with hand above shoulders.

Ability to occasionally, regularly, frequently move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds.

Ability to turn or twist body parts in a circular motion.

Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud/noisy environment.
