Job summary

Pier Sixty-Six Resort in Fort Lauderdale, FL seeks a Server Assistant for the Garden Room—Fine Dining. This role supports a high-end dining experience, assisting servers, keeping the dining room immaculate, and delivering exceptional guest service in a fast-paced, luxury setting.

Qualified candidates have a minimum of 2 years in fine dining, knowledge of Italian cuisine, strong communication, teamwork, and flexibility for evenings and weekends. Benefits are provided by the resort.

We currently have an opportunity for a well-rounded and seasoned Server Assistant - Garden Room - Fine Dining to join our Pier Sixty-Six Resort team!

Responsibilities
  • Clear and reset tables
  • Prepping for service
  • Taking used plates, utensils and drinkware to the dishwasher area
  • Attention to detail
  • Responsible for problem solving and special requests
  • Providing highest quality of service to the customers
  • Arranging dining room to cater to number of guests
  • Ability to work as a team in a fast paced five star rated environment
  • Set up dining room area according to Garden Room restaurant standards
  • Consistently keep the restaurant organized and clean
  • Set up Trash cans, soda, plates, utensils, and to-go containers at start of shift
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day
  • Set up heat lamps or umbrellas per a guests request
  • Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
  • Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests
  • Set tables according to service standards
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company and FORBES standards
  • Run food and bus tables
  • Anticipate and address guests` service needs
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and support your team to reach common goals
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds without assistance.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Servers and Supervisors
Qualifications

  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures
  • Effectively communicate with peers, management, line, and front-of-the-house employees

  • Be responsible for the cleanliness of the immediate work area as well as the general property
  • Subscribe to proper grooming, dress and uniform standards as set forth by Company policy
  • Be courteous to all guests and coworkers
  • Maintain behavior consistent with sexual harassment/hostile work environment policy dictated in the Employee Handbook
  • Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware, and garnishes at Pier Sixty-Six.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, alcohol service, and workplace safety policies and procedures applicable to the position.
  • Work cooperatively with hosts, bartenders, kitchen staff, management, and other team members to ensure smooth restaurant operations.
  • Assist with opening, closing, side work, stocking, cleaning, and other operational duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while representing the company.
  • Protect guest privacy and company information and handle company property responsibly.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous restaurant or customer service experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide friendly, professional, and attentive guest service.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain organized and attentive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math and cash-handling skills.
  • Ability to learn and use point-of-sale (POS) systems and other restaurant technology.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must meet any applicable legal age or certification requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
  • Frequently walk throughout the restaurant, dining areas, service stations, and other assigned areas.
  • Ability to carry and balance food trays, plates, beverages, and service equipment safely.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 pounds as required.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, crouch, and occasionally kneel while providing guest service and completing side work.
  • Ability to safely navigate crowded dining areas while carrying hot food, beverages, glassware, and other service items.
  • Ability to maintain balance and stability while carrying trays and working on wet or uneven surfaces.
  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, and fingers to handle plates, glassware, utensils, menus, POS equipment, and other service items.
  • Ability to operate POS systems, tablets, telephones, and other technology used for taking and processing guest orders.
  • Ability to visually inspect food and beverage orders for accuracy and presentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, culinary staff, and other team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including hot kitchen areas, air-conditioned dining areas, and outdoor environments as applicable.
  • Ability to remain physically active and maintain a high level of attentiveness during periods of high-volume service.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as operationally required.

Experience, Education, & Licensure

  • Minimum 2 years in fine dining service experience in addition to knowledge of Italian Cuisine.
  • Hotel experience preferred
  • High School diploma preferred
