Job Description
The Server Assistant is responsible for providing excellent service to both internal and external customers. They are also responsible for cleaning dining areas, tables, and server areas; setting tables with dishes, napkins, silverware, glassware, and condiments. Responsible areas include 19 Steak & Seafood.

Responsibilities include:

• Always exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor, being polite and courteous with guests and team members.
• Learn and familiarize with all Boyd Gaming outlets, server assistant functions, and be able to answer general questions about the property.
• Interact with guests by explaining products, asking questions, and building positive relationships.
• Maintain knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, hours of operation, proper table setup, and dress code.
• Inform guests about restaurant specials, feature items, and menu favorites.
• Ensure dining and serving areas are set up and maintained according to standards.
• Keep front of house free of dirty dishes.
• Communicate effectively with management, chefs, and culinary staff to address guest and employee needs.
• Abide by all liquor regulations and laws regarding alcohol service, including rules about minors and intoxicated guests.
• Collect and report tips at the end of each shift.
• Clear, clean, stock, and set up dining tables and server stations.
• Transport dishes to the dishwashing area and carry trays of food to tables.
• Assist kitchen staff with unloading and cleaning of bus tubs and carts.
• Clear settings as courses are completed and provide additional utensils or condiments as needed.
• Use and maintain all equipment and areas in a sanitary and safe manner, adhering to health regulations.
• Attend scheduled training programs and complete assigned duties, including opening and closing tasks.
• Handle difficult guests professionally and work harmoniously with coworkers.
• Be physically able to stand for 8 hours, lift up to 50 lbs, and balance trays.
• Follow company SOPs to ensure consistent standards.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Effective communication skills in English.
• Experience working in high-volume restaurant settings.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Skills are typically acquired through at least 2 months of on-the-job training or relevant experience.
