Job summary

The Vanderbilt in Newport, RI seeks a Server Assistant to support our dining team. You will help set up and clear tables, assist servers with delivering beverages, and ensure guests have a smooth, attentive dining experience.

We value teamwork, cleanliness, and safety, with opportunities to assist at the spa, in-room dining, and pool area as openings occur. English communication is essential for guest interactions.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Back Server preferred.
• Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Set up and clear tables, arrange utensils and glassware.
• Assist servers in delivering beverages and refilling drinks.
• Answer guest questions and accommodate special requests.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure efficient service.
• Maintain cleanliness and ensure food safety standards in dining areas.
• Assist with serving at the Retreat Spa, in-room dining and pool when opened.

Become the backbone of our dining experience as a Server Assistant, where your attentiveness and teamwork will elevate every guest's visit. Supporting our service team, you'll ensure smooth operations, anticipate needs, and create memorable moments for patrons, leaving a lasting impression of exceptional hospitality.

• Assist in setting up and clearing tables, including arranging utensils, plates, and glassware, and removing used items promptly to maintain a clean and organized dining area.
• Assist servers in delivering beverages to tables, refilling drinks as needed, and ensuring guests have a positive and uninterrupted dining experience.
• Assist guests as needed, including answering questions, accommodating special requests, and ensuring their comfort throughout the dining experience.
• Collaborate with servers and other restaurant staff to ensure efficient service delivery, communicate guest requests or feedback, and coordinate tasks to meet service standards.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the dining area, including wiping down tables, chairs, and surfaces, and ensuring adherence to food safety protocols.
• This position will also assist with serving at the Retreat Spa, in-room dining and at the pool (when opened.)

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Back Server preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, according to department needs
• Ability to communicate in English
